Gun Death of Parolee,
25, Is Ruled Suicide

been issued In the death of Rob
. ert S. Cochran, 25-year-old pa
roled rapist, whose body was found
In the home of his sister, Mrs.
Dorothy Fly, 6300 block of La
fayette avenue, Riverdale, yes
terday.
He had a bullet wound in the
right temple. A .22 caliber rifle
was found next to the body. Dr.
John T. Maloney. Prince Georges
County medical examiner, gave
a verdict of suicide.

ing a 10-year term for rape. He
was convieted in 1945 of crimi
nally assaulting a Washington

had offered the victim a ride.
Police said a girl friend, Miss
Marion Wheeler, heard the shot
over the telephone. She said he
called and threatened to kill him
self while she was at work.
Roy Bright, parole and proba
tion officer in Prince Georges, said
Cochran was employed on a farm
near Leonardtown recently. He
said the parolee was planning to
wed and had arranged for an
apartment on the farm. The wed
ding was scheduled shortly before
last Christmas but was delayed
without explanation, he said.

defines hell as a "lake of fire,’
eternal punishment,” "separation
of the soul from God,” the "second
death.'' or "spiritual death.”
"There is a hell,” he said. "I
must warn you that it exists. If
I didn’t, then I would stand con
demned before the judgment seat
of God.”
There are some people who don’t
believe in life after death, Mr.
Graham stated.
“But when yeJb blow your brains
out, you kill only the body,’’ he
declared. “Your soul remains im
mortal; it lives forever; and your
soul will either be in Heaven or
hell."
