D. C. Area Churches Set Services in Honor Of Boy Scout Week Services in observance of Boy Scout Week will be held tomorrow In many Washington area churches. The Most Rev. Patrick J. Mc Cormick, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington, will present Ad Al tare Dei (“To the Altar of God”) Crosses to 28 Catholic Scouts at 4 pm. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Bethesda, Md. The Rev. Robert O. McMain, assistant pastor of St. Francis Xavier Church and chaplain of Troop and Cub Pack 65, will preach at the sendee, sponsored by the Catholic Committee on Scouting of the Archdiocese of Washington. Troop and Cub Pack 54 will be guests at 11 am. in Chevy Chase Baptist Church, 5671 Western avenue N.W. Dr. Edward O. Clark, pastor of the church, will preach on “On My Honor.” Dr. Edward B. Willingham, pas tor of National Baptist Memorial Church, Sixteenth street and Co lumbia road N.W., will speak on Scouting during the 8 pm. serv ice. Members of Troop 97 will at tend an 8 p.m. service in Memo rial Evangelical United Brethren Church, North Capitol and R streets. At 8 pm., the Cubs and Scouts of Troop 63 will take part in a service in Congress Heights Bap tist Church, Esther and Brothers places S.E. The Cubs, with their leaders and parents, will hold a “Blue and Gold Banquet” at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Washing ton Highlands Recreation Hall, Seventh and Yuma streets S.E. The Rev. George E. Schnabel, minister of St. Mark’s Evangeli cal United Brethren Church, North Glebe road at Twenty-first street, Arlington, will speak at a Scout service at 11 am. on “Our World, Our Boys and Our God.” At Arlington Methodist Church, the Rev. Harry Wardell Backhus HI, minister of the church, will preach at 3 pm. in the sanctuary, Glebe road at South Eighth street. Cub Scout Troop 34 will cele brate its third anniversary at an 11 am. service in Ryland Metho dist Church, Branch avenue and S street S.E. The Rev. Approximately 20 person^ gath ered to plan organization of a church to serve the Lyon Park area. E. E. Naylor was named as first superintendent. He served from 1927 to 1932. The group moved on March 6. 1927, to the Lyon Park Community House for its meetings, remaining there until May 5, 1929. During this period the congregation was known as the Lyon Park Com munity Church. Later the members decided to affiliate with the Disciples of Christ denomination and changed the name to Lyon Park Christian Church. Changed Twice More. When the present, site was bought about 1929, the congrega tion name was changed again. This time it was called the Virginia Avenue Christian Church. In 1937 the street names in Arlington were changed, and once again the congregation altered its name to the present Pershing Drive Christian Church. During its early period Robert A.
