Oratory Contest Finals on March 28; Other Activities The Department of the District of Columbia, American Legion, 15th Annual High School Ora torical Contest will take place Friday at 8 pin. in the Depart ment of Commerce Auditorium. There are four competing final ists. The winner will receive a gold medal, a SIOO Defense Bona, and a Certificate of Merit. The run ner-up will receive a SSO and $25 Defense Bond and a Certificate. The third place contestant will be awarded a SSO Bond and the fourth place winner will get a $25 Bond. The winner will represent this city in a series of national elimi nations leading to the national finals at Baton Rouge, La., on April 21. Arthur Clarendon Smith will deliver the principal address at a luncheon meeting of the De partment of Agriculture Post Wednesday at noon in Room €962 of the South Building. John M. Amstadt, an employe of the Coast and Geodetic Sur vey, has been elected first vice commander of Department of Commerce Post, succeeding Wil liam R. Cameghi, who resigned. According to Comdr. Bernard J. Carvelo of Bureau of Engraving and Printing Post. It will sponsor a Question and Answer Forum on UMT next Saturday at 8 pm. in the main auditorium at the bureau. Clark V. Poling Post has added A. J. Hallman to its roster. It is now arranging plans for the an nual dinner on April 19 at 6:30 pm. at the Fairfax Hotel. Nelson Blake, general chairman, is in charge of reservations. The post will go in a body to Philadelphia, Pa.. March 30 to present the original Bruce Rogers Bible to the Shrine of the Four Chaplains in that city. Robert A. Bunch of George Washington Post and Charles G. Emmett of Navy Department Post, both of whom are now serving as department vice commanders, have been indorsed by their respective posts for department commander at the department convention in July.
