Riggs Reports Loans Exceed S9O Million, Highest in History By Donald B. As previously reported, deposits Os $343,222,319 were up $13,563,- 065 since midyear and $23,800,145 above October, 1951. Capital funds of $19,895,019 were down $12,986 from June, but $355,735 above the like date last year. Air Travel Behind 1951. Passengers arriving and depart ing at Washington National Air port in August totaled 225,832, a seasonal pickup from 215,914 in the previous month, but remained behind 226,504 in August, 1951, air- , port officials reported today. Passengers for the first eight months of this year, however, to taled 1,627,092, compared with 1,607,875 a year earlier. i i Pioneer In Stable Jobs. Soybeans were somewhat higher early on short covering, but then dipped due to continued favorable harvesting weather. Receipts were reported much lighter today at Decatur. 111., to the soybean area, totaling about 50 cars. Wheat was easy in light trading. No wheat export news was reported. Near the end of the first hour wheat was %-% cent lower than the previous finish: September. 2.30%; corn was %-% higher; September, 1.73%. and oats were % lower to % higher; September. .86%. Soybeans were % cent lower to % up: Sep tember, 3.04 H. and lard was 10 to 22 a hundred pounds higher; September, 9.62. Great Britain was reported to have bought two cargoes of United States corn over night. Corn receipts In Chicago to taled only 69 cars. The five-day weather forecast indicated further good crop weather in the corn And soybean belts. Soybeans are moving to market as the new crop matures. At Decatur. 111., receipts yesterday totaled about 190 cars—unusually heavy for this early. Tne continuation of good weather also makes lt appear that the new corn crap will be ready to move to market at about the earliest date on record. Trade sources , said the crop is at least two weeks ahead l of normal. The corn market was quite 1 weak yesterday, with September hitting a new low of $1.73%.
