Ex-GI Is Happy as Doctors In Denmark Change His Sex By tho Associated Press COPENHAGEN. Denmark. Dec. I.—Christine Jorgensen, 26, an attractive blond, awaited happily today her final release from a Danish hospital where she under went hormone treatments and surgery changing her from a man into a woman. She will return home soon to the Bronx section of New York City, where she grew up as George Jorgensen, jr., son of a carpenter. The change took about two years. During that time, between trips to the hospital, Christine was able to study color photog raphy. She hopes to pursue that profession in the United States. “I’m happy to have become a woman and I think many more people who are unhappy as I was before should follow my ex ample,” she told a reporter at Rigs Hospitalet, the Danish state hospital here. I.—One of the greatest manhunts in Nor folk’s history has been climaxed with the placing of a murder charge against a 17-year-old Spartanburg (S. C.) youth. The youth, Allen Carroll Pruett, was returned here from his home by officers yesterday and formally accused of the brutal knife slaying of 71-year-old news huckster Harry J. Ganly. Mr. Ganly's body, bearing nine wounds in the shoulder, back and chest, was discovered November 21 in a back room of his news stand.
