Three Teams End in Tie For Bridge League Title NEW YORK, Aug. 9 (&). Three teams ended in a tie late last night in round-robin play for the master team champion ship of the American Contract Bridge League. A playoff will be held this afternoon and tonight. Going into the finals last night a team headed by Alvin Roth of Washington, D. C„ had five wins and one loss and seemed headed for victory. Two other teams—one headed by Charles H. Goren of Miami Beach, Fla., the other by Her man Apfel of New York—each had four victories and two de feats. Roth Loss to Kaplan In last night's play, Mr. Roth’s team lost to the team of Edgar Kaplan of New York, while Mr. Goren’s team defeated the team of Paul Hodge of Abilene, Tex., and Mr. Apfel’s group won over ihe team of Lew Mathe of Los Angeles. So today, for the title, it will be the teams lea by Mr. Roth, Mr. Goren and Mr. Apfel. Other members of the Roth team are Harry Harkaby of Mi ami Beach, and Tobias Stone, Ira Rubin and Victor Mitchell of New York. Other members of the Apfel team are Louis Keller, F. P. The corporation recently an - nounced that it had developed an airborne TV system for use in | jet aircraft reconnaissance by the Air Force.
