Studios Coast-to-Coast Salesman By SHEILA GALLAGHER Matthew Warren, best known to Washing ton viewer* as WTTG —5's newscaster, Is becom ing an Increasingly familiar figure coast to coast ... He does the commercials for Martha Roun tree’* Press Conference (Sundays, 8:30 p.m., WMAL—7) . . . Warren Is the only announcer doing live commercials on a network show which originates from Washington. WMAL—7's singing guitarist, George Hamil ton IV, Is booming his way to the top of the success ladder . . . This Sunday he will appear on the Steve Allen Show . . . November 25 takes him to Cleveland for a stint with Bill Randall (known as the hit-maker of the Midwest) . . . On November 30 he moves Into the Casino Royal for a week’s engagement, and then on December 21 he heads for Brooklyn’s Paramount for an appearance with Pat Boone. Bob Dalton of WTOP has been working a seven-day schedule for more than two years ... He’s reports he's finally arranged things so that on Sundays all he has to do is work for his wife. . . . John H. Secondary author of the novel, “Coins in the Fountain,” is heading up the news operations here for the American Broadcasting Co. ... He will be sharing an office at the WMAL Studios with Weatherman Louis Allen. . . . After three years on the night side Steve Hollywood Report 'Hot Iceberg' on Air By SHEILAH GRAHAM HOLLYWOOD (NANA). One viewer considers that WTOP’s Eddie Gallaher and John Douglas are the “most impeccably dressed men on television.” WRC’s man-about-town, Gene Archer, has now taken his place as a member of the Red skins Board of Directors opposite president of the organization, George Preston Marshall, and Veep Milton W. King. Archer noted that although he’s been associated with the club since 1939 (almost as long as the Redskin great Sammy Baugh) he was “quite amazed” when the appointment was announced. “My duties are very light,” he said, “but even so I certainly didn't expect anything like this. I guess they just needed three people to vote on things.” Jim Simpson, WRC—4’s sports commenta tor, leaves for Australia this Saturday to cover the Olympic Games so rthe NBC network. . . . Pretty Dorothy Cole is now subbing on the Mark Evans Show for Angela Bayer. executive explained. . . . Abbe Lane and husband Xavier Cugat have contracted to produce 39 half-hours in color, titled Around the World With Cugie and Abbe. . . . Jerry Lewis will be all over the video screens this week end. He has been overworking and his doctor has warned: “Slow down.” Sheldon Reynolds, filming the Milton Berle adventure series, has got himself engaged to Nicole Millinaire, a very beautiful lady who works in his office and helps with the TV decisions.... And from a friend of Berle’s comes this puff: “Milton looked so young, 25 years old at most, that Sheldon had to do some reshooting to make him look older.” Nice to have friends.
