Os one thing I feel pretty sure, even if you do take time to read the column, it isn’t likely that you will go easy on the calories. There just are too many tempting dishes and rich foods around to expect you to use much restraint. And I’m not at all sure it’s necessary. For the next week, however, when all those party desserts are served, you can go easy on them. Try to avoid tasting and sampling as you prepare goodies for the family and the children who are home for the holidays. You can have this happy thought, however. Starting on January 6 we will again pitch right into the annual S-week self - improvement Marathon, during which you and thou sands of women all over the country will be taking off as much as 20 pounds in just 8 short weeks. Mrs. Roosevelt To Be Speaker Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt will be the guest speaker at the Initial meeting of the newly formed Woman’s Suburban Democratic Club of Montgom ery County on January 4, Mrs. ! Don Pryor, president pro tern, has announced. Mrs. Roosevelt will discuss “Democratic Suburbia” before some 300 members and guests of the club at a luncheon meeting in Normandy Farm, Potomac, Md. Impetus for the new club, Mrs. Pryor explained, came from a large group of subur ban housewives who worked In this year s campaign. The idea is to make it pos sible for these women to en gage in activities on a larger scale than is possible through the already existing smaller clubs in the area. ' Club membership will be drawn primarily from the western suburban area of Montgomery County. Lun cheon meetings with nationally prominent speakers will be a regular feature of the club programs to be held every other month. Temporary officers were chosen by the organizing group of 35 women to serve for a six months’ term after which an election will be held to fill all offices for a two-year term. New officers in addition to Mrs. Pryor are: Mrs. Edward M. Bernstein, Mrs. Drexel Sprecher and Mrs. George L. Weil, vice presidents: Mrs. William R.
