A-10 * THF EVENING STAR, Washington, D. C. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 111. 18.-,7 P * Senators Seek to Identify Americans in Red Deal By the Associated Press Senate investigators sought today to learn the identity of American intermediaries through whom the State Department rays a Russian military attache here bought electronic equipment. The case came to light yes terday with an announcement that Maj. Yuri P. Krylov, assist ant military attache at the So viet Embassy, has been ordered out of this country. In demanding his recall, the State Department charged that he had "attempted to purchase classified military information”! and had bought electronic equip ment “through American inter mediaries.” Senator Eastland, Democrat of Mississippi, chairman of the* Senate Internal Security Sub committee, promptly directed staff investigators to try to de termine the identity of the Amer ican intermediaries referred to and the type of equipment in volved. Pleased at Speed of Action ! Senator Eastland said he was gratified that Secretary of State Dulles had acted "with such dis patch” to expel Krylov. "This is just another example of the Soviet Union's use of its official roles here as a cover for! espionage purposes,” Senator Eastland said. The baby is due about next Sunday and the Prince is so pro tective of his blond Hollywood Princess that he won’t even allow newsreel cameramen to shoot pictures outside the palace. A British photographer asked a palace spokesman for permis sion to take a picture of the Prince’s 2-year-old pony. Per mission was denied. The photographer pointed out rather haughtily that he had en countered no trouble photograph ing the royal ponies in “my coun try." At that time a feud between Prince Rainier and photographers led to his be ing booed as he escorted the then Miss Kelly to a gala affair. A statement that there would be no television pictures of the baby aroused wails from camera crews flown here by American companies. These crews make up a large percentage of the pop ulation in the 367-acre princi pality now inhabited in about equal numbers by casino croup iers. newspapermen and pho tographers. One smiling tourist equipped | with an 8-mm home camera was stopped by a palace guard yes terday and not allowed to shoot until his passport made it clear' he was not a professional pho tographer. American, British, French and Italian cameramen are eyeing one another suspiciously in the belief that the restrictions mean that seme one is getting an ex clusive deal. Cameramen Warned Such talk was heightened by the Prince s refusal to allow one American television company to set up a camera in the palace courtyard to shoot outside scenes. Cameramen also were warned 1 they would be stopped if they tried to shoot from surrounding rooftops.
