There ara no secret* among the girls; frankness la called for and ia received. Each girl had a change to talk, and each In turn was talked to. The comments would range from, “Mary, we think you’re too shy,” to “Jane, you said something the other day which hurt one of the girls.” And what la the purpose of a Truth Court? "Well, it Just helps to bring us closer together.” explained 10-year-old Betty Prioe. "We hold ndthlng back. Wa might comment on the kind of clothes a girl wears, or her hair stele —tilings like that. But It Isn’t just the bad points; we cover the good points the constructive points—too.” "It’s not at all cruel, or anything like that." added Toni House, 10, at whose Wes ley Heights home the meeting was held. “Really, you'd be surprised to see how It helps each one of us.” The Truth Courts are held two or three times a year, or whenever the girls feel they have a problem which needs discussing. The one last week Betty Henderson. Jane Miles and Twink Hawley. —Star Staff Photos. -TUN, end was the first for the new school year. It lasted until after S am. As one can expect, the girls strongly favor sororities. “At Wilson High,” said Libby Williamson, “there are many sororities. It’s a large school and without sororities It might be hard to have ae many friends. But with a sorority we can have more fun.” Betty Price commented that tha principal function of the sorority is Air social activities. They hold regu lar meetings and collect dues. “Most of ths money from dues goes toward buying food for Tush’ parties, or for buy ing sorority pins and sweat ier*,” Betty explained. The girls are quick to point out. however, that their ac tivities are not limited: They collect food for needy chil dren and hold drives Urn Junior Village. After the truth court the girls began their shunter party, which lasted, accord ing to Betty Price, until about 4:30 am. But for six girls the party never ended; at 0 am. they changed from pajamas te Bermudas and sweaters and went walking down nearby Foxhall road. Page 5
