Employment Increases
By 700,000 in Month
i. The Oovernment reported
yesterday that civilian em-,
ployment increased by nearly’
300,000 between mid-September
and mid-October.
The mid-October figure was
65.306.000 compared to 64,-
629,000 a month earlier. Em
ployment was below the 66,005,-
000 of a year ago, although
far above the recession bottom
of 61.988,000 of last! February.

Washington Regional Blood
Center distributed a total of
1,730 pints of blood in the Dis-i
trict of Columbia and the com
munities covered by the blood
mobiles in Maryland, Virginia
and West Virginia.
In the District 789 pints
were distributed. 325 in Mary
land. 360 in Virginia, 73 in West
• Virginia and 183 outside the
area.
