Churches to Observe Week of Witnessing Some 460 Washington area Protestant churches will par ticipate In the Week of Witnessing observance which opens today and continues through February 15. Sponsored by the National Capital Area Council of Churches, the week is designed to stimulate Christian evan gelism. It will be highlighted by congregational and community maaa meetings and visits to Prospective church members, and will place special emphasis on church participation by youth. -A mass meeting at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow in the University of Maryland's Cole Student Ac tivity Building will open the (observance officially. Secretary Jof Health, Education and Wel |fare Flegaming, a leading Methodist layman and general chalromi of the observance, wm p3B|e. The nwbyterians, however, will begin their observance a day ahead of the mass meet ing with a Presbyterian serv ice at • o'clock tonight in New; York Avenue Presbyterian Church, New York avenue and H street N.W. Dr. James A. Jones, president of Union The ological Seminary, Richmond, will preach on "The Kind of Church That Gets Ahead.” Breakfast In Capitol Two other features of the ( observance will J>e held on Tuesday. These are a break fast for Government officials; at 8:30 a.m. in the old Supreme Court room of the Senate at at which Dr. D. Elton True-; blood, formerly chief of re ligious information for the United States Information: Agency, will speak. Dr. Flem ming and Senator Kefauver, Democrat of Tennessee, will be hosts on behalf of the Council of Churches. The second will be a confer ence for ministers at 10:30 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Six teenth and O streets N.W. Dr. Clarence W. Cranford, minis ter of Calvary Baptist Church, and Dr. Theodore O. Wedel of Washington Cathedral ' will speak. Dr. Thomas W. McDill, professor at Columbia Theo logical Seminary, Decatur, Ga., will speak at a 12:05 p.m. wor ship service after the confer ence. The observance will conclude i with a youth rally at 7:45; p.m. February 15 in Constitu tion Hall. Principal speaker will be the Rev. C. Kilmer I Myers, vicar of Trinity Epis copal Parish in New York, who is widely known for his work in the field of prevention of juvenile delinquency and among gangs. * Other Observances Other churches which have announced special observances during the Week of Witnessing include: Dr. William F.
