Hawaii and one of the original leaders in the fight for statehood, died Tues day night in Honolulu of a Heart ailment. He was 72. i Mr. King had recently an nounced his Intention of run ning for Governor in Hawaii’s first State elections—a lifelong ambition. Part Polynesian, mostly New Englander, and all Hawaiian, Mr. King served as Hawaii’s delegate to Congress for eight years. A Naval Academy grad uate. he left his seat In Con gress in 1042 to serve in 'he Navy during World War II after he not only had won the Republican nomination for Delegate, but had received more votes than all other | candidates of both pa: lies ! combined. Mr. King was Governor of Hawaii from 1053 to 1057. He was a territorial representative at the time of his death. Collins, a Pub-, lio Health Service official who was internationally known as a pioneer in the collection and analysis of information on the health of population groups, died Tuesday in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a long illness. H° had gone to Boston for medical treatment. Dr. Collins, who was 67, was chief of the morbidity and health statistics branch of the Public Health Service’s division of public health methods at the time of his death. Honored in 1952 A Washington resident for 40 years, he was one of 11 persons to receive the Superioi Service Award in the old Fedeiai S - curity Agency, uow the Depart ment of Health, Education and Welfare, in 1952.
