National War College The first luncheon of the season for the Women's Club, National War College took place at noon yesterday with the Air Force Wives in charge. The luncheon was given in the Crystal Room at Fort McNair Officers Club. Mrs. Paul J. Hurley and Mrs. Louis T. Smith were co-chairmen for the day. Mrs. Carl Spaats and Mrs. Bernard Schreiver were the honor guests. Housing for the Elderly To Be on Display More than 25 exhibits of housing developments for eld erly persons will go on dis play at the National Housing Center, 1625 L St., January 10 through 29. The exhibition was timed to coincide with the White House Conference on the Aging, which will take place in Washington January 9 through 12. Admission is free. Hours are 10 am. to 6 p m. daily and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. Featured is a full-sized f furnished apartment, a du plicate of one now being lived in at the San Antonio, Tex., g Housing Authority’s Victoria y Plaza Apartments for senior citizens. 1 The apartment has mov e able partitions for more fiex- s ible room arrangements and e doorways wide enough for 9 wheelchairs, among other i. thoughtful innovations for i. the aging. la Among the other displays are scale models, photographs 1 and large panel renderings of housing for senior citizens from all over the world. Plans range from luxury to middle, to low income housing—but all are geared to comfort, beauty, safety and independence. The displays have been as sembled by the Housing and Home Finance Agency and the National Association of Home Builders. As a further participation In the White House Confer ence, a Douglas Fir Plywood home, known as the “House of Freedom,” for senior cou ples, has been erected on a vacant lot at the northwest corner of 17th and M streets, a short distance from the Housing Center. The latter has been ar- ranged by the Plywood As sociation and Mr. Carl T. Mitnick, chairman of the Housing Center’s board of trustees and himself a builder of housing for the elderly in Cape May, N. J. Law Classes Scheduled The Woman’s Club of Chev,y Chase is sponsoring a series of five classes in par liamentary law for prospec tive officers and chairmen. The classes are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. every Monday, starting January 9. For further information, call Mrs. Roy Bowker, who will be teaching the classes.
