Jan. 14.—The public, generally, thinks the new Kennedy cabinet is strong. Even half the Republicans ap prove of it. The only personal criticism is directed against the naming of Robert Kennedy, the President-elect's brother, as at torney general. These conclu sions are indicated by this week’s “What America Thinks” poll. A cross section of Americans was asked: "On the whole, do you think Kenedy’s cabinet is strong er weak?” Those interviewed were also asked about their political af filiation. S 17a The youth of the incoming cabinet was held to be a weak ness by some, a strength by others. “He has surrounded himself with young and brilliant men and his cabinet is young and brilliant.” said a Texas sales man, a Democrat. “Toe Much Teoth” “His cabinet is weak because there is too much youth in it. Being young, he should have surrounded himself with more mature men,” said the owner of a Massachusetts printing plant, a Republican. Here is a sampling of other reasons, starting with those who said it is a strong cabinet': "It Is a young and forward thinking cabinet. They are in telligent people who look for ward to the future,” said the wife of a Virginia oil-driver salesman, an Independent. “It is strong, better than I expected. Mr. Kennedy has used pretty good judgment ex cept in one case. In naming his brother Attorney General, he left himself open to criti cism,” said the wife of an executive of a Wisconsin steel fabrication company, a Repub lican. “Since we aren’t in a period of great crisis, no drastic action is needed or indicated.
