NEW YORK, Feb. 3.—The
bond markets traced two pat
terns in January. Government
issues generally declined, cor
porate prices rose slightly.
The overall corporate ad
vance as measured by the As
sociated Press average of 60
issues traded on the New York
Stock Exchange was only about
index point. About two-thirds
of the treasury list fell y 4 to
% of a point for the third
monthly loss in a row.
A number of governments
touched 1961-2 lows during
the third and last weeks. Most
others held within a point or
so of lows recorded last fall.
During the latest week cor
porates were almost unchanged,
based on the AP averages. Gov
ernments finished mixed, rang
ing from losses of 6-32 to
gains of 12-32. The World War
II issued 2>/ 2 s added about 6-32
in general. Long bonds were
uneven.
