Somber-hued blossoms of pawpaw, found near Monacacy Aqueduct, precede its better-known fruit. Paw Paw, W. Va., is on the Potomac. Wild columbine hangs from a rock near Little Falls. Like the wild geraniums, they can be found blooming during final weeks of Spring.
