Washington, Feb.' 1. The
charge of the striking shopmen
on the Harriman lines that the
railroad was not observing gov
ernment safety appliance regula
tions, and the fight to force an in
vestigation, was carried to the
floor of the house of representa
tives today, when Rep. Berger of
Wisconsin offered a resolution
for a congressional investigation
of allegations by the strikers that
inefficient repairs on locomotives
and cars by strike-breakers have
caused loss of Hfe and property
and delay to the mails.
The measure requires specific
investigation of the charge that,
although aware that they "can
not efficiently operate tljeir lines
under present conditions," the
railroads are refusing to treat
wtih the strikers "for purely spec
ulative and stock exchange purposes."

"That's all right, too," said
Rube. "I was content to accept
a small salary when I was not
delivering the goods. Now I am
as good as the best, and I am en
titled to more. Going to get it,
Last year, Marquard was the
league's star pitcher.
