The train-paralleled the Hud son and the auto was driven over the frozen surface of the river. The racing auto is at the right and .the smoke of the train can be seen behind it. The airship did not enter the race until about a mile from the start, allowing the other two space annihilators time to get under way. , The race was won by the aero plane, which traveled 12 miles in 14 minutes, the auto taking lSl2 minutes to go the same distance. The train was left far in the ruck. Automobile races are being held on the ice daily, an auto, sled, the 'invention of a New Yorker, proving one'o'f the features of the Sneerl " ' v f ", A K v W 553skksbp "cfe4 JUL V.Wrt DANGER OF STREET CAR STRIKE PASSED There will be no street car strike in Chicago. This was assured today follow ing the conference Friday and Saturday between a committee from the carmen's union and President Rpach of the Chicago Railways Co , when the men de manded the discharge of Super intendent James B.1 Hogarth, on the grounds that he was unfair, and imposed severe penalties for slight offenses. Hogarth will be shorn of his power, and the men will deal di rectly with the company through an executive board, composed o'f President Roach, Vice President WilHston Fish and Henry As Blair.
