Gee Whiz, isn't it great to wake
up in the morning on a dayjike
this and see the sun shining so
With the air warm and balmy,
the birds singing and signs of
Spring on every hand, onfr can
laugh at the pile of ice and dirt
in jthe gutters that politicians
haven't found time o clean away.
Yes, this is a great -season of
the year. The boys are out
with their baseballs, bats and
gloves. Mother begins to think
ot house cleaning. The sap be
gins to 'climb up inside the tree,
.and the heat of the sun begins
- warming up the air and sending
word down to the plants and
flowers to gtt busy and come on
out and play.
Some folks begin to change
their underwear, and tb look
through the closets to see what
they can dig up in the way of
lighter clothes. And everybody
feels like crawling out of his win
ter shell and getting outdoors
Yes, the sun will melt the snow
and ice. Then the rains will come
and wash away the winter's ac
cumulation of snow and ice and
filth from the streets. And on
April 10 the, primaries will be
over and we can walk along the
streets without being stared at
from every shop window, tele
graph pole and bill-board by the
ugly mugs of job-hunters. "
And on April 11 the base ball

playing ball again this year.

Thud I've signed up with the
Stars. They call themselves that
because, they stay out all night,
Slap I thought perhaps you
were with the Lilacs?

bush league. By the way, I've
got.a chance to join the Hardboil-i
ed Eggs next month.

son away "behind the Chasers.

booses so-called because they
are always behind when it comes
to training; and there are the Big
Ears, known as such because of
their little pitchers; and there's
the Forty Thieves. . :

so many bases ?
Thud No, that's because they
are allex-umpires. And there's
