ty feet when a terrific roar shook
the very walls of the palace. I
escaped by, a miracle. Strogpff
and the hamper were "blown Htex
ally into fragments."
"But you said the mechanism
was accurately time," remarked
Boutcheff's friend. "At what
time did the explosion occur
'Precisely at 11," Boutcheff an
swered. "You see, my friend,
when they sent the bottle from
St. Petersburg they had. not Re
membered that it would gain one
hour in time in transit. As you
know, noon at St Petersburg is
only 11 o'clock in Copenhagen."
