King, 914 Greenwood av., Wilmette, Aug. 9. -6 HARRISON DIDN'T CLOSE ONE DIVE UNTIL FORCED TO -Mayor Harrison is taking great credit to himself for closing up seven dives on the South Side levee.' Which goes to show that Mayor Harrison's nerve is still in good working"orde,r. Harrison did not act about 'these dives until he was forced into a corner by Attorney Carl A. Waldron, acting for the Commit tee of Fifteen. Here are the facts: - A 17-year-old girl was found in a disorderly house at 2033 Ar mour ave., Aug. 14. Warrants were issued for the keepers, Harry J. Cusick, "Dago Frank" Lewis and Maud iewis .the next day. - None o& the warrants was served, because the three were tipped off and fled the. city. CuSick is owner of a saloon li cense. So, it is believed, is "Dago Frank" Lewis. All these facts were made pub lic nine-days ' ago. The police made no move to close up the dive or saloons. Mayor Harrison made no move to close up the dive, or to revoke the licenses. The house at 2033 Armour ave. continued to run wide open. sCusick and Lewis, fugitives from justice, continued to receive the profits and to nold licenses from the city. August 17, a 16-year-ofdgirl was found in a house a 2117 Dearborn st. Leo. Bernstein runs that house. A warrant for his arrest was taken out Monday. Leo Bernstein wasn't arrested, because he was tipped off and fled. His house continued to run. The facts were all made public The police took no action. Mayor "Harrison took no action. A warrant charging pandering was issued for the arrest of Helen Turio, wife of John Turio and keeper of a house at 2014 Armour ave., Aug. 1. This warrant was never served. fteUl&te.
