THE INFORMATION WANTED BY THE YOUNG
PEOPLE'S CIVIC LEAGUE ON' WAGES PAID
In their letter to the State Street Dealers'. Association, which is
the department store trust of the loop the Young People's Civic
League said :
uIt has been openly asserted many 'times that the wages paid
to many of your,, employes is less than' a living wage. If such is the
-case you will agree with us that if would, be.a powerful factor in forc
ing young women, especially, to an immoral tmeans of livelihoqd.
The league then asks,the big.stores to answer this charge that
"the baying public may be rightly informed." - .
The Young People's Civic League need .not wait for the an
swer. They can get the information from as reliable authority as
there is in Chicago namely,' the Chicago Vice- Commfssion.
