MONROE 353 VOL.2,NO,47 Chicago, Thursday, Nov. 21, 1912 ONE CENT IDENTITY OF CHICAGO GIRL MURDERED AT BRIDGEPORT DISCOVERED BY DAY BOOK The Day Book has discovered the identity of the Chicago girl murdered on a lonely stretch of road near Bridgeport Conn., on the night of October 22. , She was Rosa Gannuc"cio Mi laho, daughter of Antonio Gan nuccio, 1126 'Tilden stree't, and Mrs. Rosa Gannuccio,' 61 1 Ewing street, and the wife of'Pietro Mi lano, 555 Sebor street. There was no clue to the girl's real name at, the time oi the mur der, . Just a.few days before the mur der she arrived in Bridgeport from Chicago. On that fatal night five men met her in a restaurant and decoyed her into an-automo-' bile. The chauffeur of the automo bile was ordered to drive to Strat ford, Conn.; from there,, to Para dise Green.; at Paradise Green he was told to "keep on going." A few, miles outside of Para dise Green is a long, lonely stretch of road, bordering on the .old cemetery of Putney. Here the five men and the girl left the car and the chauffeur was ordered to drive on and to return in an hour. Thej:hauffeui drove on, but re turned when he heard the sound of five revolver shots. The five men had gone. The dead body of the girl was lying just inside the gates of the ceme tery. She had been shot through the head five times. Joe Buonomo, James Mattio and Frank Piscella were arrested the next day. Buonomo confessed to the murder and swore that the woman -was his wife. He might have been believed had not the card t of Mrs. 'Alice Phillips Aldrich of the Chicago Law and Order League been found !4in the murdered girl's pocket. . This led the police and federal authorities to believe that the girl had been concerned in some white slaving plot -and had been about to squeal on the white slav ers when she was murdered.
