MAKING A BALKY HORSE MOVE " "
Want to knftw how to start a balky
That sounds like"" a foolish ques
tion and it's been echoed thVough all
the ages since horses came into gen
eral -.use. Everybody who owns one
would like to know how to start a
balky horse. Here's a way that has
never failed': Take an ordinary bam
boo fish pole long enough to reach
the head of the horse from the car
riage seat. Attach a round wooden
bolt crossways to the end' of the rod
. A MEMORY TEST
and fasten copper rivet heads in .each
end of the bolt.
Then attach the two wires of an
electric battery, pne to each rivet
head and let them run along the pole
to the handle where they will be fas
tened to ordinary binding posts. Run
wires from your battery, under the
Sarriage seat, to the handle of the
pole. When the horse balks turn on
your currenl. and touch the horse be
hind the ears with the rivet heads.
He'll -move -no matter how deter--mined
