SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN PEN
FOR KILLNG MAN WITH AUTO
A jury in Judge Cooper's court yes
terday shattered all precedent by sen
tencing Lawrence Lindbloom, 24,
taxicab charuffeuK to fourteen years
in Joliet prison for running over and
killing Joseph Weiss, clgarmaker, 846
E 43d street, with an automobile, Au
gust 5, 1910. Assistant State's Attor
ney Stephan A. Malato prosecuted
the case.
The defendant was accused of running-
his auto wild at 25th street and v
Cottage Grove avenue, vwhere the
tragedy took place. The wheels of the
taxicab picked up Weiss and carried
him two blocks. It was asserted that
Lindbloom made no attempt to stop
the can Weiss died at Mercy Hos
pital three daysftater.
Weiss' 7-year-old daughter died of
grief three weeks after her father
was killed, according to Mrs. Martha
Weiss, the widow.
There were four automobile own
ers on the jury that returned the -verdict.

Lindbloom resided at 419 E. 25th
street At the time of the killing of
Weiss he was employed by the peo
ple's Gas, Light & Coke Company.
He was engaged to be married.
Lindbloom's attorneys made a mo
tion, for a new trial which will be
