HELP! THE LATEST SENSATION
IN GOWNS "HAS CAME"
New York, June 25. The latest
sensation in gowns has arrived from
Paris and Mayor Gaynor is thinking
of increasing the traffic squad. A few
old-fashioned folks think the militia
ought to be called out.
The new gown is called the "Ex
pose Toilette," and you can take it
from Fifth avenue that "expose" is
One young woman, hired by a big
department store to make the "Ex
pose Toilette" fashionable, appeared
on Fifth avenue wearing one of 'em
today at noon. The police had hard
work handling the crowds.
You couldn't make any mistake
about the young woman's form. It
seems that it is against the law or
something to wear corsets or petti
coats with the "Expose Toilette."
So this young woman, instead of
corsets and thingumajigs and petti
coats, wore a silk "combination"
with embroidered silk trunks, the
which any passerby could plainly see.
Also, there were slits in the skirt
of the gown, and through these peep
ed forth beautifully embroidered silk
stockings, to say nothing of knees.
The knees were embroidered, too,
you understand, with "knee-lets" of
diamonds, which clasped just below
the knee. These also were not con
tent to blush unseen.
Then again, because it was a nice
day, the lady scorned to wear shoes.
She wore a "sandal-pump" of patent
leather with the laces tied colonial
As has been said the crowd was
something fierce and the traffic cops
say they never did know one harder
PROVES A FIZZLE
Berlin, June 24. The latest
method of long-distance courtship
has proven a fraud because of the
falseness of woman.
Fraulein Bertha Stahl put her
name in a matrimonial advertisement

Africa, wrote to her. He asked her
to have a moving picture made of
herself, doing housework. The film
