The strange girl is aware that pit
falls surround her and she is alert
to avoid them. That is where she
has the advantage of the refined
school girl from the respectable
home, who never hears or reads or
sees anything wrong,-whose parents
rear her like a delicate lily in a glass
case, so that the first breath of un
tempered air proves too much for her
and she withers.
The home girl is kept in ignorance
of true conditions and blunders blind
ly ahead until she falls into the snare.
But this isn't saying that the girl
alone in a big city has not a hard
time trying to keep otit of the mire.
If she has even 'another girl as com
panion she is comparatively safe.
