I love to watch the clouds drift by,
The fleecy clouds of a summer sky;
To lie on my back on the warm, sweet grass
And gaze and gaze as the clouds drift pass;
In the vault of blue
To see them alter and shift and change
In a hundred fashions queer and strange,
To a thousand fancies, old and new.
I can see great castles with snow white walls
And lakes and gardens and waterfalls,
And wondrous mountains and billowy hills
Which suddenly change to a giant zoo,
With elephant, tiger and kangaroo
And all the beasts or the circus bills. ' L .
Then quickly before my idle gaze . ,
A great cloud sails like a ship at sea,
Some fairyland trader or argosy, ,
Bathed in the bright sun's golden rays.
And so I linger and laze and dream
While the white clouds gleam . .
With soft romance in a summer sky; "; : 5
