STREET CARS PASS -UNDER MOVING HOUSE
The only movable street tunnel in captivity! It's in San Francisco.
Mounted on stilts so high that street cars and other traffic passes under
it, the. old. residence of Adolph Spreckles is descending a grade that dropn
two inches to the foot to a new location in the adjoining block. The house
cost $26,000 to build and weighs 200 tons. It is three stories high.
Thejnoving involves some difficult features to which it attached a great
risk on account of the steepness of the grade. The building is being lowered
by , gravity. It will take'teri men six weeks to complete the task.
