The skies smiled when; three-makers
of miracles gathered for a vaca
tion in Florida a reflection of the
smiles of the hundreds of thousands
of men and women who will look
southward to the waving palms, the
sunny skies, the blossoming mag
nolias, with no taunting thoughts of
envy but with only pleasant wishes.
Thomas Edison, John Burroughs,
Henry Ford a wonderful group,
wonderful in achievement, wonderful
in success, but more wonderful be
cause they reached the summit by
serving others, not by climbing upon '
the frailities of the weak.
Edison drove darkness from dingy
homes and blackness from streets.
He sent' music to homes that would
be songless without his phonograph.
He brought education, entertain
ment, development to the masses
with his moving pictures. He revolu
tionized all modern life and made it
easier and broader.
Burroughs gave to the world a new
translation of nature. He lived close
