WnpWpi!!pP!Pippppppi The Butcher stuck manfully to his task, allowing eight hits and three passes. He is a dogged worker and does not allow the lack of fielding support and the iailure of his mates to score runs disturb him. He pitches the best he has inTris assortment, notwithstanding the hopelessless of the task. Out on the North Side there was another disaster, Tinker's gang drop ping the final game of the series to Baltimore. Young Jimmy Farrell lives out that way but even his friends looked on him coldly last night. For Johnny undid all the good pitching that Tom McGuire chucked into the fray. Farrell combined his bad work in the second inning, making an error of execution and one of thought. Each cost a run. Baltimore got a man on first with one out. Walsh bumped to Kavanaugh, who tossed to Farrell for a quick play. Johnny ap parently forgot how many men were ou,t, for he held the ball with an easy double play in sight. By the time the yells of his teammates had aroused him it was too late to get Walsh' at first. Walsh then stole and Doolan walked. Wilhelm singled, riding Walsh home and sending Doolan to third. They tried a double steal, and Mike tallied when Farrell made a wild return of Block's throw. In spite of the defeat, the local Feds were not disgraced by any means. They exhibited a lot of pep per and fight, and that without their manager in the game, with a substi tute on third and a second string man behind the bat. In the ninth pinch hitters were rushed in. A Walsh fanned, but Wil son was walked. Then Flack boosted the pill into the right field bleachers for a homer. The rally fell one run shy, but was a thriller while it lasted. The last two games have shown Tinker that he has a couple of good pitchers to help out Hendnx, Brea nan and Watson, who have bjg league experience. Both Fiok aaa McGuc put in games that class with the best of the Feds, and they will be heard from frequently, as the season ad vances. At present the Chifeds are handi capped by a makeshift infield, which reduces the efficiency of both attack and defense.
