One of the prettiest of the summer
tub gowns sent over from Paris is of
white cotton tirepe embroidered with
black.
The inevitable ruffles about the
hips arc .of plain white crepe with
black buttorihole edges. The waist
is a soft kimoria of the embroidered
material with plain white sleeves.

Gadski
Songs need jiot be coarse to appeal
to people, asserts Mme. Johanna
Gadski, who sings many songs as
well as grand opera.
"Pine songs that are noble and
sweet have a greater appeal than the
coarse ones," she says.
"A song does not have to stoop to
indecencies to satisfy the masses, for
it is proven again an'd again that the
pure songs live while the vicious ones
die quickly."

Boil spinach. Drain, chop fine. Al
low to drain dry. Put a tablespoon of
butter into sauce pan. When hot but
not brown add two even tablespoons
of flour. When smooth, add chopped
spinach. Salt and pepper to taste
Cook slowly five minutes. Butter
muffin or pattie pans, press the spin
ach mixture firmly into these. Set in
over for ten minutes. Do not bake
just keep them hot. Turn out on plat
ter and cover with rich white sauce
Slice the whites of hard-boiled eggs,
place on top of each pattie. Rice the
yolks over top and send to table hot.
