mikjmuiiw&mmM BROTHER KILLED IN DUEL WITH TWO SISTERS Sterling, III., July 10. Mrs. Lee Hutton and Miss Lillian Meyers, sis ters, are held without bail for grand jury pending investigation of killing of their brother, Emanuel Meyers, late yesterday. According to story told by Meyers as he was dying, partly corroborated by the sisters, the three had been dis puting. One of the sisters drew a revolver from the folds of her dress and open ed fire on the brother. She fell faint ing and the other sister took the weapon. Meyers fell with four bul lets in his body. o o TAX PROBE ON A guard was thrown around the books of the assessors' office as sa precaution against tampering by out siders. Today the books fifty tons' of them will be wheeled into the coun ty court and the big probe will be on. It is expected that several million aires will be called first. Ass't State's Att'ys Bell and Berger will handle the cases today. o o LORIMER BANK NEWS Both feedral and state grand juries will take up Lorimer bank matter Monday. Several former officials of old La Salle National Bank will be called. State Auditor Brady and his "Mich igan wife" will be witnesses. Receiver Niblack filed answer to several depositors's suits. o o PUBLIC FUNDS FOR PUBLIC To settle the old question of the ownership of the interest on public funds it is the intention of the Citi zens' Ass'n to present each candidate for the office of county treasurer with a pledge that he will turn over all interest to the county and keep open books showing bank transactions.
