'-O 0 SETS FIRE TO SELF DIES- .Mrs. Ethel Sheffield,. ,30, jmtewl George Sheffield, choir singer, ended a life of illness yesterday by saturat ing her clothes with gasoline and then igniting them with a match. She died after 12 hours of agony. Mrs. Sheffield has been suffering from a nervous breakdown for the past three months. She has been under a nurse's care. Yesterday she eluded the nurse and .-started the blaze. .- PAY TRIBUTE TO MEN'S ASHES New York, July 13. Over 2,000 people visited the office of Mother Earth, the anarchists' publication, to pay tribute yesterday to the ashes of Arthur Caron, Carl Hansen and Chas. Berg, the bomb victims, which were placed in an urn surmounted by a clenched fist and stood on a red and black draped bier. Alexander Berkman and other an archists plan to build a permanent mausoleum, designed by Adolph Wolf, sculptor of the urn, in which shall repose the bodies of all an archists who meet death for "the cause." Though the urn containing the ashesswas not carried through the streets Saturday owing to the ruling of the police, the addresses delivered to a crowd of more than 5,000 in "Union Square were the most an archistic ever delivered at an open meeting. The crowd was orderly and police did not interfere. tyo DUNNE FOR SUPREME BENCH The possibility of Gov. Dunne being named as the successor of Horace Harmon Lurton, associate justice of the United States Supreme Court, who died yesterday, was widely dis cussed. It is said that Sen. Lewis will call on President Wilson to urge the selec tion of the Illinois governor.
