Federal officials -will start an inves
tigation into the story told by Laona
Johnson, the 18-year-old Laona, Wis.,
girl, involving Laurence D. Ballou, re
tired capitalist, at present living at
the Hamilton Club.
Warrants are out for Ballou and
Dr. L. W. Rowell, Western Springs,
DL, as a result of the girl's story.
Several weeks ago the girl disap
peared from her home in Laona and
came to Chicago. According to her
story, she came in response to a let
