THOMPSON SAYS COUNTY IS
"SULLIVANIZED"
Wm. Hale Thompson said at a
meeting last night:
"Chicago and Cook county is be
ing 'Sullivanized' in a manner to ex
cite the envy of uny trust-builder.
Roger controls the sanitary district
"As boss of that district he has the
management of the electrical power,
which the people have tried to de
velop. "As boss of that district his hench
men have inaugurated the rqform of
'lump' payrolls, making it impossible
to tell exactly where the money goes.
"As boss of that district he is able
to put thousands of men on the pay
roll whenever a Democratic primary
is to be carried.
"As boss of that district he is able
to give large and juicy contracts to
the Great Lakes Dredge Co., which
he and his political friends are said
to own.
"As boss of the county clerk's, the
recorder's and other county offices he
is able to put men on the payroll who
will do his bidding.
"As boss of the state auditor of
public accounts he is able, through
his examiners, to know whose paper
is in every state bank. Through that
power business men can be forced to
do his bidding or have their paper
objected to when presented to his ex
aminers for approval
"As mayor of Chicago he can have
his Great Lakes Dredge Co. repeat
the kind of work it is said to do upon
the sanitary -canal and make the peo
ple pay for it dig in the daytime and
dump back at night"

"new love" cult of 12 members, 7 of
