"You see," said Mary Pickford,
"the first requisite toward being a
. successful movie actress is the first
requisite toward being a successful
anything.
"That requisite is a good mother,
and mine is not only the best mother
in this whole wide world, but she has
developed into a wonderful business
woman. I would take her advice be
fore that of any man on earth, and I
regard her as the greatest element in
whatever success I have. She has
taught me the great virtue of thrift.
