The Piiikerton National Detective
Agency last week reached out a long
arm from its offices, 131 S. 5th av.f
and tried to fasten handcuffs on
Charles Siringo, way out in Arizona,
and bring said Siringo back to Chi
cago with the handcuffs on him just
like a jailbird.
And now Siringo haa .slipped
through their fingers and there ain't
going to be no handcuffs on anybody
at all, at all, by jiminy.
Siringo is a detective himself. He
knows the gumshoe game. Worked
22 years for the Pinkerton's. Then
quit 'em, disgusted. Then he wrote a
book squealing a lot of inside secrets.
Said the Pinkerton N. D. A. enn
ploys murderers and puts over frame
ups. Gave names, dates and places.
Called his book, "Two SMI- Isms,"
meaning Fmkertbnism and anarchy
