COUNCIL TO TAKE UP FIGHT FOR
HOME RULE BILL
A special council meeting has been
called for next Monday to pass reso
lutions asking that the legislature
push through the "home rule" public
utilities bill. The council wishes to
go on record as favoring the meas
ure before it comes up down state
for a vote.
Mayor Thompson has declared
plainly for the law, which would give
the council and mayor more power
over public utilities. He expressed -v
the opinion that the commission form J
of government is better than the ex-
isting rule with the public utility con
trol in the hands of the state.
