love to see you truthfully reform in

Be true to yourself little Rationalist.
THAT DRUG LAW. Some months
ago our government put a law into
effect 'to do away with all kinds of
drugs, but in making the law they
left out the important part That
was in not making any law as to
where the ones who were using drugs
were to "be cured.
The first man that they arrested
and put into jail was a Dr. Blunt This
same doctor has done more to keep
men and women from killing them
selves than any other doctor in this
I know of a case where one of his
patients has been using sixty grains
of morphine every day and this same
man went to Dr. Blunt and has been
cured in nine weeks
The best spart of the cure was that
the party did not lose a day's work
and suffered no pain. China has a
law the same as this one of ours, but
they have not taken the drug away
from the users at once. The govern
ment made it so a user could get so
muchvery week and cut it down a
little at a time.
Now that is just what Dr. Blunt is
doing at the present time. And I
know that he is getting results by his
treatment I think the government
will have a very hard time to get a
body of fair-minded men to convict
this doctor, for he is Within the law
and only tending to his business.
He has done the city of Chicago
a big service in helping the ones who
had no way of being treated but by
him. There are some foolish men
and women in this world, and they
are the ones who has made trouble
for Dr. Blunt They go to his office
and tell him that they are in pain and
that they have been using dope for
He gives them advice and medicine
and enough of the dope to last them
ft few days. Now if they do not use
it as he directed can he help it? Why,
Then when they call again he tells
them they have got to stop, and if
they do not want to take his advice
he will not treat them. They get
anjjry and go out and lie to the po
lice and he is in trouble.
Well, time will tell if he has done
right or wrong. But I think he is
doing right and if the government
does not take care of those addicted
to drugs, some one has to or let them
die. But they will do most anything
before they give up.
When a man or woman goes to
any of our hospitals they are put into
bed and then forgotten. That is what
our city calls treatment.
The government for years has been
taking a big tax and the dope fiends,
Now they take away the drug and
do not care how they, suffer. Some
day the people will .rise up as one
when cases like this one' are put on
the shoulders of the helpless.
f If any one has anything to say on
this question I would like to hear
from them through The Day Book.

BUSBY AND THE MEN. Reading
every day about the car men's strike
has made me almost boil over at the
treatment they are giving the men,
Busby at $60,000 a year and Blair at
$30,000 a year.
Imagine men of their salary mak
ing such a fuss about a few cents an
hour! When you figure it up it would
not buy the 25-cent cigar for them
that they can smoke every day, and
still they come with poverty stories
that they think will blind the public.
It's very nice for them to say car
conductors are all, or mostly all, dis
honest If they themselves were
honest they could think the same of
other men. A fine chance of being
dishonest! Have you ever given a
conductor a nickel and had him keep
it? Don't worry! Give them a raise.
