Asserting that a smoker thought more of his cigar or his pipe than of his wife and advising all young women who are engaged to men with tobacco habit to break with them, Dr. Charles G. Pease, New York, president of Non Smokers' Protectice league of Amer ica, opened first annual convention of that organization here with three persons in his audience. One was real delegate, second was a press agent looking for a job and the third a reporter. ; "No woman can afford to occupy . the same room with a man who , smokes," said Dr. Pease today. "A wife for the good of future genera tions should insist on her husband living by himself in another part of ' the house. I am in favor of every wife forcing her husband to smoke on ! the back doorstep. He should not be allowed to smoke in the house. If we ; don't stop this smoking business our jails are going to be overcrowded." Mrs. Wilson, the delegate, urged men to boycott women who smoke or j drink cocktails. She declared that cigarettes and cocktails were getting a hold on college girls and that some thing must be done to counteract this. o o G. J.
