A committee of 300 citizens will
wait on the action of their aldermen
in the Cicero town council tonight,
when the ordinance selling the mu
nicipal lighting plant to Sam Insull's
Public Service Corporation for $66,
000 comes up.
At a special meeting of the coun
cil last Friday night the "Citizens' "
party tried to slip one over on the
citizens when they tried and failed
to pass the ordinance.
It takes a'three-fourth8 majority to
pass the franchise, and put of seven
trustees two oppose it They are the
Republicans, Joseph' Hlavka and A. J.

the five representatives of the "Citi-'
zens' " party, which was organized,
three years ago to beat the Repub
licans. It was not until this year's
election that they were victorious.
At the last election they seated five
members of the board and the presi
dent Immense sums of money were
expended in whirlwind campaign and
now the people of Cicero have, a
hunch where this money has been
coming from.
The sanitary district now sells Cic
ero power at the rate of 10 cents a
kilowatt hour for the first 20 hours.
After this the rate is 7 cents. Th4
