.nature, the law of God. The coming
change is inevitable. Nature will not
be denied forever.' All governments
as known are to be destroyed.
The struggle now is nature versus
man. We are doubtless factors in
nature and are insanely trying to ex
ploit God. The American position is
unique because of our opportunities.
Are we to continue that foolish ex
ploitation and perish as the others,
or shall we fall in line with His law
and realize the earthly paradise that
is here for us if we will but accept
it? The many things you think you
see standing in the way are but fig
ments of your diseased imagination.
Don't try to pettifog with God and
nature. Get in line. Socialism is
our present chance. All other
grounds are sinking sand. I. N. Al
SAYS HE WAS IRISH. The Fo
rum writer, Meyer Fisch, is certainly
well named, but I hope, with all sin
cerity, that he does not seriously in
tend to convey the impression that
we are all suckers, even though
many of us who are permanent sub
scribers to your fair and fearless
chronicle of the day's doings claim
Illinois as the state of our birth.
No, history does not state that
Robert Morris was a Jew, because
history usually has some slight re
gard for truth. Furthermore, prior
to the inauguration of steam navi
gation we do not find any Hebrew
names mentioned in the chronicles
of the times.
As far as from here to Tipperary
and where the fighting is hottest you
will -find the poor, ignorant Irish, for
There are gallant hearts whose
Columbia loves to name,
Whose deeds will live in story
And everlasting fame;
But never yet one braver,
Our starry banner bore,
Than saucy old Jack Barry,
The Irish commodore.
But, to return to Robert Morris of
Philadelphia, not New York, who
was neither rich nor a Jew: When
Washington appealed to him in be
half of his ragged, starving, freezing,
suffering army at Valley Forge, Mor
ris went among his friends and se
cured the money necessary, some
$20,000, which was contributed by
two brothers named Meade and a
man named Shea, warm-hearted
Irishmen, whose ancestors had suf
fered for generations, to be exact,
700 years, under the high-handed
tyranny of greedy, grasping England.
Tom Smyth Hayes.
SOCIALISM AND INTEREST..
Which will it be, socialism or inter
est on money. The two cannot live
under the same roof. There are
many who are advocates of social
ism, but I have never heard one of
them denounce interest on money.
If we could do away, with interest
on money we would have no need
of socialism, for this earth would be
a heaven. There are over 100 mem
bers in the U. S. congress who were
placed there by the workingmen's
votes to look after the interest of
the working people.
If the peace advocates were to de
nounce interest there never would
be any more war.. There could not
be. It will take 200 years for Eu
rope to pay the cost of this war, even
if they don't have wars in between.
Stop and think who pays the bills.
The man with the hoe and the work
ing people had better never been
born than be slaves to the money
kings. You don't have to live in Eu
rope to be ruled byva king. This
country is ruled by corporations.
One is a Democrat, the other a Re
publican. Both are the same, work
ing for the almighty dollar. Neither
of them cares for the future welfare
of the human family. They never
think that the child of today is
father of the man of tomorrow. In
terest on money is wrong, no mat
ter which law you advocate, human
or divine. The single taxers ought
