FIRST SPRING HATS BY BETTY BROWN Gentle spring ISN'T here no, not by several weeks of wintry weather, but just to remind us that King Win ter is ready to capitulate comes the spring maid armed with a spring smile and a new spring bonnet I have just made a tour behind the scenes of some of the big millinery shops and into the. studios of some of the exclusive designers where art ists and seamstresses, small armies of men and women, are now engaged in making hats for those up-to-date maids who would be a bit ahead of the season. It was from Mine. Esther Wright of Chicago whose designs are accept ed as authentic by that censor of fashion, The Fashion Art League of America, that I got the little semi sailor model in sipper straw in the ilustration above. The straw is in hunter's green.
