cannot possibly have universal mili
tary training is just a weird super
stition and does not jibe with the

than we are! Australia has "univer

Nevertheless, Australia hasn't had
it very long, and didn't get it without
a lot of trouble in combatting super
stitions and prejudices like our own.
Some persons said there, as many
persons say here, that any kind of
preparation for defense, was absurd
and needness; only they said it with
