Louise Glaum, "The Vampire
Lady" of the films, was born in
Maryland, but was taken to Los An
geles so early in life that she was
there when the motion picture direc
tors emigrated to the Pacific coast
Previously she had appeared on the
legitimate stage as the ingenue in
"Why Girls Leave Home," later in
"Officer 666" and in Nat Goodwin's
"When California was invaded by
fhe picture play, producers Miss
Glaum presented herself to Thos. H.
Ince. She has been under his direc
tion ever since, appearing in well
known Ince features, including "Win
ning Back," "The Conversion of
Frosty Blake" and "The Toast of
Death." She was in her accustomed
role in "The Iron Strain" with Dustin
Farnum, the first Ince production
under Triangle auspices. Miss Glaum
whiles away her idle moments de
signing her dresses and costumes for
