Berlin, June 21. Realizing that
hostilities will not end this summer
and may drag into next year, the
German people are demanding that
the war be pushed with the utmost
vigor that the allies may be brought
to terms. As a part of this demand,
advocates of a strong submarine po
licy have re-opened the campaign
for a more effective -use of the Ger
man U boats.
Chanceiler Von Bethmann-Holl-weg,
who yielded to the U. S. in the
recent submarinet controversy, still
has the upper hand, but recent
slackening of press 'censorship has
been folowed by some bold state
ments regarding renewed activity on
part of Navy league.
SAY WILSON WILL GET THIRTY
PER CENT OF MOOSE VOTES
Washington, June 21. Pres. Wil
son will get 30 per cent of Progres
sive votes at next election, Demo
cratic leaders today claimed.
Following conferences at white
house today between Pres. Wilson
and Democratic leaders, it was said
that within next week some of the
foremost Bull Moosers of the coun
try are going to declare themselves,
not for the Democratic party, but for
Pres. Wilson, on his welfare and
Americanism planks.
