Outside of the fact that our plug
ging White Sox won another game
Monday and held their slight chance
of grabbing the America league
bunting, about the most important
thing that happened in the sporting
world Monday was the breaking of
the major league record for consecu
tive "ball games won. McGraw's
Giants turned the trick by trimming
"St Louis both sides of a double bill.
The. previous record was made by
Providence thirty-two years ago.
Without wishing to take any of the
credit away from New York, it is well
to state that the world's record for
a winning streak is held by the Aus
tin club of the Texas league with, a
run of 32 games in a row. The Giants
have a-chance to tie this record, as
they have just eleven more games to
Schupp and Perrit did the hurling
that brought in the record. Our old
friend Zimmerman had a lot to do
with the copping of the second game.
He slapped out a couple of doubles
which netted just half of the six runs
that his fallow ballplayers gathered.
New York's winning streak started
on Sept 7, when they beat Brooklyn
