"Don't say that," faltered John. "I

was a reason."
"Yes, my poor brother Walter. Oh,
John! Why didn't you tell me that
the reason we had to scrimp was
because you were helping him make
up the money he had lost, belonging
to the people he worked for?"
"How how did you find that
out?" cried John sharply.
"Your papers fell out of your coat
and I read a letter, and John, dear,
John, take me. home again and I'll
never more complain again."
